Saturdays Layback (A Whitesnakes Ramble)

Knowledge is not wisdom!
I know a lot of things but it does not make me wise.
During my journey through life I have come across lots of many different cultures, different people, and different ways of life.
I am searching for my little spot in the universe. Where is it that I belong? What is it that I want? How do I achieve what I want? How do I get there? How will I get there? Can I get there?

The last couple of years have had a profound effect on me. Getting to know some of you has had an impact. Reaching out to some of you has enriched my life and made me aware of things that I never knew or had (in most cases) misunderstood. I have touched hearts and broken them. I have become older and probably more accepting of the world I live in and what it gives me. The world does not owe me anything. I owe the world nought.
Trying to ease the mind of all its worries is not easy. The mind is like an ocean. Full of so much. Trying to clear it is difficult, simply because we as a western society do not know how.

Clearing the mind means calming the waves of the ocean so that you can see into it. When the water is still one can see the bottom and look at the surroundings uninterrupted. Some call it meditation. Some call it relaxation. Some call it stupidity!
I am trying to understand myself. How can anyone understand me when I do not?

We all hide behind things. I hide behind laughter, jokes, stories and stupid acts. I hide behind the bottle sometimes. Yet I continually reach out to others lending a hand, words of advice and an open mind. I am searching to find me!

I struggle to find inner peace.

Meditation for me is very difficult. My mind is continually racing at a million miles an hour. Asking questions, seeking answers and coming up with conclusions. Trying to analyse everything that goes on in everything I do. What do I do if this or that happens. Working out which way to turn.
I think we all are like that.
I am a firm believer in the power of the mind.
Easy to understand the simplicity of it. When you’re having a bad day for example. Everything that can go wrong does go wrong. Why?
You expect it to go wrong. You find it easier to say “Well the day started off badly so I expected to catch all the red lights and be late.” It is just the mind justifying the “Why is this happening to me.”
Try putting that into a positive mindset.
Yeah I know, damn near impossible.” I just hope you are getting my point.

Things will not always go to plan. We have to change the way we think. We have to change a life time of being brain washed in certain areas.
We all have our own ideas on what is and what should be. Ever thought of changing them? Ever tried to look at things in a different light? From a different perspective?

For those that know me well enough will realise that some of the following comments are just about trying to raise a point. They are not necessarily my beliefs.

Hitler and his band of merry men massacred homosexuals and Jews. One could argue he was trying to do a good thing. Rid the world of HIV or some carriers. Jews abuse of children through circumsion. For every bad there is a good. Hitler stopped child abuse for a while and HIV.

Religious groups preaching that if you don’t do this or that you will rot in the pits of whatever. Or even worse preach “Thy shall not kill” but, if you go and blow up some white fellas ya will get 10 vestal virgins when ya reach never land. “Yeah Right!”

How the hell would they know?

OH! And how come the so called preachers don’t go out and do it themselves?
How many of you have gone blind from masturbating? The Catholic Church says ya will so ya better stop.

We are a loving and caring community. “Yeah Right!” So how come when there is a major disaster the news service (this could be anywhere in the world) says “200 people died in a plane crash today fortunately no New Zealanders were among the dead.”

What the? Are we happy that it was 200 others that got killed?

Asians and the opium trade. Yes we are now talking drugs. Drugs by association to an ethnic group. Over in the USA I guess it would be the Colombians and their cocaine.
Does that make all these people druggies or dealers?

I could talk about New Zealanders and sheep but that is a different story.
Now ya see?

I have drifted off on a different tangent. I had started this post wanting to convey my thoughts on meditation and have gone off half cocked on some fairy ride through the thoughts floating in my head. Some of you wonder where I am at. Geez I don’t even know sometimes.

In the last episode of Dr Who. Season 2007. The Master rears his head. For those that have followed the series since Nov 23rd 1963 you will know of his devious workings.

He speaks of the drumming in his head. The constant pounding. When will it stop?

That is what my mind is like on a constant level. I feel the consistent pressure to go over things time and time again, until I get it right.

I really need to stop it!

Hence I try to meditate. “Yeah Right!”

Find a nice quiet spot. Relax and listen to the sound of ya breathing. Let ya mind drift. Think of peaceful places. Water flowing, rivers streams. Forests and flowers.

The gentle warm summer breeze blowing against your body. Each muscle releasing its tenseness.

“OK”

Here is what really happens!

Quiet spot? Phone rings, door bell goes off, visitors rock up, lawn mowers start up, trucks with motors that have never been serviced drive past. Cars tooting, children screaming.

Ever tried listening to ya own breathing?

Ya stop and then ya panic!

Mind Drift???? Ya start thinking about ya bills that ya didn’t pay or can’t afford. The jobs that need doing. Meals to prepare. Housework that you should be doing instead of laying or sitting here.

Water flowing? Forests and flowers?

Shit I need to go to the toilet! My nose starts irritating me and I sneeze. Hay fever symptoms appear out of the blue.

Warm breezes? All of a sudden a mozzie starts buzzing round you.

Muscles relaxed? You start getting itches you never had before.
How does one meditate with all those things going on?
My ex wife would say to me.
“Are you listening to me?”
I say “What? I wasn’t listening.”
My mind was else where.

Seriously though.

I think I got meditation (Not medication) right once.

I was trying to drift out of world and easy my worried mind when tears flowed. Not tears of sadness but just tears, like a release of emotion.

NO BASTARD! Told me meditation would include the water works being on full pelt!

Not even sure if it was supposed ta happen. It just did.

Said fuck all abou it in the instruction book that I haven’t got.
Oh well that is my lot for today. If you have made it this far thanks for reading and I hope you have a better understanding of Whitesnake.

You all have a great weekend and take care.

Monday Manic Moments (My Next Life)

Orgasmic!
I want to live my next life backwards!
You start out dead and get that out of the way right off the bat.
Then, you wake up in a nursing home feeling better every day.
When you are kicked out of the home for being too healthy, you spend several years enjoying your retirement and collecting benefit checks.
When you start work, you get a gold watch on your first day.
You work 40 years or so, getting younger every day until pretty soon you're too young to work.
So then, you go to high school: play sports, date, drink, and party.
As you get even younger, you become a kid again. You go to elementary school, play, and have no responsibilities.
In a few years, you become a baby and everyone runs themselves ragged keeping you happy.
You spend your last 9 months floating peacefully in luxury, spa-like conditions: central heating, room service on tap.
Until finally...You finish off as an orgasm.

I rest my case.

Slipping through my fingers

So are the days of our lives

Sunday Story Time Part 21

The story begins here

King of Dreams
by
Harry N Down

I have breakfast of fruit and cereal and of course tea. Having had my fill I start thinking about what I will do for the rest of the day.

I get the camera ready for Kev.
My mind is actually thinking of Shallini and how she is getting on when Kev knocks on the door.
“Do you have Kapil’s Phone number Kev?”
“I put it in your phone mate. Where you thinking of going?” Kev checks the camera as he speaks.
“Thought I might pop back to see Sunni.” I say softly.
“Wanting to check on the tin lid eh? You big softy you!” He laughs. “Just make sure you give Kapil a time to pick you up. Be ready at that time. He is a wonderful chap but he does have a busy life really.”
“I will.” I tell Kev.

Kev is off to visit the Lotus Temple, Ajmal Khan Park and Muqhai Gardens time permitting.
“Catch ya later Steve. Take care and most of all have a bloody good time.” Kev heads out the door with camera in hand and some other bag. I follow him out telling him to enjoy his day.

Back inside my room alone I wonder if I should really go back to Sunni’s without Kev.
My mobile rings. “Don’t stand there thinking about it mate. Just ring Kapil and go. Have a good day.” Kev hangs up. I smile as I realise he always seems to know when and what I am thinking. That is part of the magic about our friendship. We know each other’s thoughts or feelings. Well most of the time we do!
I check I have everything ready. I think about taking Shallini another gift but think better of it.
The mobile rings again. “Can you be down in the lobby in about forty five minutes? I’ll pick you up then.” Kapil tells me. “Kev said you wanted to go to Sunni’s.”
“Err yeah thanks Kapil I’ll be there. Thanks mate.” I hang up.
Well I think that’s it. No choice now I’ll have to go. I do my usual check of the room and leave.
Down in the bar I order a drink and sit waiting for Kapil. Watching the clock to make sure I am on time to meet him in the lobby.
I reach the lobby just in time. Well to be honest he is early. “You ready then?” Kapil smiles at me. “First time out on your own in a strange country can be very daunting. “ He adds.
“You are a strange man Steve. A good man but strange.”
We chat a bit. Just general chitchat. “Are we going the same way as last night?” I ask Kapil.
“Yes Steve. It does look different does it not?”
“Yeah sure does. A lot lighter for starters.” I laugh.
“You are a funny man Steve.”

We arrive at Sunni’s the place is quite full. I ask Kapil to pick me up about five pm if possible. He will ring me if there are any problems. “I will be here. I just maybe a bit late but do not worry I will come.”
Kapil drives off his horn honking. Not at me but at some smart ass that has just cut him off.
I walk into Sunni’s and order a drink. The only seat available is at table of women. They look like students but I am not sure. I sit down but move my chair back from them. More so as not to intrude on their turf than from embarrassment. I can hear the women talking about me and giggling. I look over briefly and nod and smile politely as I can. I take a mouthful of beer to settle me down.

Coco likes Ice

It seems you humans are always not very considerate of our animal needs.
Why is it that my MUM clips me when winter is approaching?
Why is that my DAD gives me cold dog meat out of a can?
See the humans in this house have no consideration of my delicate condition.
It's wet and cold
I am a DOG and proud of it!
I feel the cold..........brrrrrrr!

I have a bed and a nice home and I have a mum who looks after me and gives lots of cuddles.
I have a dad who cooks wonderful meals for my mum and gives me titbits.
I guess I am really lucky really to have all the comforts I do have.
I get to stay indoors when it rains. I really do get a lot of treats.
I even get tucked in my nice warm bed at night.
Last weekend I even got to go to the beach and frollick.

Coco at work.
As I lay here in front of the door, looking out into this wet world of ours, I need to remind myself of all that I have and how well I really am looked after.
So even if being clipped makes me as cold as ice and cold tinned dog food gives my tummy an ache I should be grateful for all the other things I take for granted and more importantly know that my mum and dad love me and don't really do things to cause me discomfort.
Kind of makes you appreciate the smaller things.
Like a little black cocker spaniel called Coco.

Saturdays Layback

She would watch him from her room as he slept.
Tossing and turning.
At first she thought it was the hours he worked but she soon came to realise it was his troubled mind that kept him from a sound sleep.

A strange arrangement they had.
She slept in one room and him the other. They both kept their doors opened so they could see each other whilst they slept.
She had allowed him to stay with her provided they had separate rooms,
Now she ached for him in her bed.
If that happened one thing would lead to another and all hell would break loose.

He had come to her a broken man. She took him simply because she loved him and he made her feel free of all her troubles.
How she wished that she could do the same for him.
She would watch him sleeping. Soundly at first from pure exhaustion then restless through out the endless night till the dawn broke and he would stumble from his bed and start the day.

They share the household chores as they both worked. Her hours consistent. His scattered. Still they managed to laugh and get by.
Earlier that evening he held her as she blindly looked out the window of the apartment while rain fell as if showing them some one cried as they struggled with their dilemma.
They had dinner and had cleaned up. He did have to work the next day but it was a late shift and she had the weekend off.

They had a few quiet drinks while listening to music. He sang to her an occasional song. She laughed at his antics. Telling him how crazy he was.
As bedtime approached she found a yellow rose lay on her pillow.
She washed and put on her night attire. Slipping into her bed she glanced at his room.

He brought her some milo as she sat in her bed reading a book.
He sat in a chair she had in her room and they talked about their plans for the following day. Picking up the book she had been reading he started to read it to her.

She enjoyed the way he would use different voices and put some life into whatever she was reading. Sometimes he would annoy her with his version of something serious she was reading or he would take a certain part and go over the top making a mockery of the whole situation.
Then came the emotion of sadness as he picked himself up out of the chair and bid her goodnight.
He kissed her with passion. As if it would be a last kiss as if he would be no longer be there when the morning came.
“I love you” he told her.
Her eyes moved with him as he left her room and entered his.
He undressed and slid into his bed.
Looking over at her he smiled before closing his eyes and drifting off to sleep.

Her eyes never left him. She waited. A tear fell on her pillow.
Her memories came flooding back.
They had been fooling around on the sheep skin rug. He had been tickling her and they had both been laughing hard. Then they had become amorous and passionate. He had rolled on to of her.
In a split moment. Without a single thought. She parted her legs. Allowing him entry if he wanted. He arched back as if thinking as to what he should or should not do. Arched up. His arms taking the weight of his body off her body. He rolled away.
He smiled. And then his expression was nought. “Bastard!” She thought.

At times she could be moody and cranky. Especially at those times when a woman has to cope with emotional and natures so called gifts!
He took it all in his stride.
The silhouette of the moonlight in his room showed him suffering another restless night.
She lay awake waiting for the moment she would make her move.
She rose from her bed and made her way into his room.
Sliding herself beside him she counted.

“1, 2, 3, 4.”
He automatically turned over in his sleep and wrapped himself around her. Pushing herself into him as far as she could she felt content and sleep started to come more easily.
She would be gone before he woke.
