24 hrs work in 48 hrs is a man on mission.
16.5 One night from 1am till 5.30 pm and then the other day from 10 am till 5.30 pm.
Fuck I am was tired.
Been putting in the hours ta save a few for the trip.
Wonder sometimes if it appreciated.
It is coming up ta the last legs. The final countdown and I must say there are few who do not want me ta go.
A few friends have been made.
Some old, some new!
We will see who keeps in contact.
I am not sceptical.
I am just wary now.
As people come and go as they please.
Without regard for the feelings of others!
Maybe they do even consider things.
Who knows?
To be honest!
Who really acres?

Shiels Girls

I been walking the malls at the local shopping centre for sometime now and getting to know retailers and customers can be sometimes a tedious job but sooner or later ya find ya way and they accept you and start warming to your ways.
Never really thought I was doing anything different to any other guard. In my mind I was doing what I thought needed ta be done.
Tonight I shed a tear.
In my job I meet and greet both customers and retailers in a professional yet warm manner (well maybe not always professional). I treat everyone equally and fairly and have come to enjoy the company and confidence of many of the retailers.
I greet them all at the start of my watch and bid them farewell when their turn comes to depart the premises. (Even when some are as cranky as a cranky persons cranky bits)!
I have done what I have always thought ta be the right way to treat people and acted in what I thought was the best way to make them feel safe.
Tonight, I waited outside for the girls who work at Shiels (A jewellery store).
They were actually waiting for me inside the mall. I had gone outside as inside the centre management in their wisdom had the airconditioning switched off.
God knows what they thought but I was firmly told they had expected me to meet them inside not out.
I shrugged.
Outside we chatted for a while and then I was presented with a Christmas gift.
I took it and thanked them ...........
"OPEN IT"
Open it I did and there was a key ring and a pen.
The key ring has engraved the word "Steve" and the pen has the words "from the Shiels girls"
It isn't made of gold but it has their love and their appreciation for whatever it is I do that makes them feel safe and secure. (Could be my chit chat......... errr no I don't think so)
Such a small thing means so much.
Coming from a beautiful group of women who vary in age and other things. (but I wont go there.)
It was truly a touching moment.
They will probaly never get to read this but girls, "thank you so much." Ya sure know how ta make an ole man feel good about his job.

Me job
Well it is now all over and done with.
FREE!
Free of having my life run by some government institution.
Debt free!!!!! Yippee!!!!
However I am working non stop and long hours.
It’s all about earning as much as I can ready for the big move to NZ.
End of the month we will be picking up all our stuff and moving it across the ditch. Already have a house ta rent.
Jobs will come in time and we do have enough ta survive.
Sad thing is leaving a job I love.
Especially down at Munno Para.
We are family down there even with the cleaners and some of the retailers.
I am sad ta leave em aye…………. ALWAYS in love with em all.
On my watch we do not have a lot of problems but I have come close.
I guess I have a lot to thank my fellow workers for.
Dave, Trev, Mike and Brett thank you so much what you have taught me and being mates.
Although I still have a couple of weeks ta go before I finish. I wanna tell these guys that no matter what I have ya back.
Ok enough of the sentimental crap.
A young lad aged between 7-10 runs down the mall and I ask him to stop.
He stops and runs up to me and says “Fuck me up the bum!” then runs out the door.
My reply “Ya not my type!” as he scampers out the northern end.
Another lad running through the mall stops briefly ta listen ta me speak then proceeds ta run down the mall only ta trip over and hurt himself.
Squealing like a pig!
I amble up as he is laying in agony on the floor and politely say, looking down.
“Now that’s why ya don’t run in the mall”
Then I walk away leaving the little shit ta his own devices.
We have a hell of a lot of assaults but we take it all in our stride. It’s part of the job and I love it.
Don’t get me wrong the assaults I don’t like, but they are a everyday occurrences and ya have ta deal with it.
The RTS boys rock up with their JB and coke and sit in the food court. They don’t cause trouble but we know them well enough ta know that they are a pack of arseholes and can cause havoc.
I stand near by and just scan the mall. They scatter. Heading out the northern entrance.
The night guard is informed as we finish our shift and head off home.
Poor bastard is in for a hell of a night.........
I may get a call ya just never know.
Whitesnakes do it better …….When ya had a kid tell ya ta “Fuck me up the bum!”

waiting!
Thursday the 18th of December 2008 at 12.30pm the lawyers will finally release me from work cover.
There is no emotion at the moment. There is just nothing.
By next week I should know where we stand from a financial viewpoint and the move to NZ will be on in earnest. The prospect of starting over again is exciting yet it is also met with some doubts. Although Shaz and her friends and family are supportive, I will be there alone.
That in itself is a scary thing.
Still, I have battled this far and taken chance’s before so this should be a doddle.
I may have to redo my security course over there although me thinks that there should be some sort of reciprocal thingy between NZ and Australia. So much to do and so little time as I want to be there by the end of the month. Maybe a week or two into January at the most. No that isn’t right. I want to be there NOW!
Whitesnakes do it better ....... Patience boy, patience!

Encounter the Snake
If you ever have a Chance Encounter with the Whitesnake, here are something’s you should know.
1) For 12 weeks in 1990 I was a singer in a band in Japan!
2) The only vegetable I am not keen on eating is parsnip!
3) I always eat my vegetables before my meat! DON'T forget the gravy!
4) I have been accused of being a dreamer, but without hope and dreams, life would not be the adventure it is suppose to be.
5) I am very good at giving, absolutely useless at receiving!
6) I believe love is an expensive commodity. The more you want the more expensive it is. You only have to ask what price you are willing to pay.
7) I have answered the front door naked!
8) I do not drive!
9) I can charm the most obnoxious person.
10) The bite isn’t lethal but the tongue can be.
Whitesnakes do it better ……. Usually when least expected.

A short note
Christmas this year will be dull and boring. Well maybe not dull as the big move will be in full swing.
So much to do and so little time to do it.
It is all those little things that need to be done. Cancelling bank accounts, redirecting mail, sorting through what we want to keep and what we want to get rid of.
Plus, at least for now. We keep working.
Best thing about moving to New Zealand is that we can now do it sooner rather than later.
A townhouse has already been found and the final details will be sorted by the end of next week. All our present furniture will be mostly sold off although there are a few items which we will be taking with us.
Family and friends are excited and the mother in law has had her two cents worth.
Amazing really how people will help out with odd and sods just to see you right. It is all appreciated.
The stresses and strains are slowly subsiding yet I have to be on the look out for symptoms so that they do not raise their ugly head and send me backwards.
It’s all good aye?
Well my fellow readers I have a shopping mall to patrol so work beckons.
Take care, and I will post again soon.

Christmas
There is something special about being able to be free from life’s trials and tribulations. I guess that is why ya feel sometimes that life is a struggle and other times ya feel life is a breeze.
Everyone who has passed my way. Whether they have been good or a total waste of space is remembered and always will be. Especially at this time of year.
Gotta ask though? Why This time of year?
Why do we as human beings only once a year be nice?
Whitesnakes do it better ………. When ya nice ALL the time

NZ from through a Whitesnakes eyes
NZ has so many beautiful sights that one some times ignores the locals. NOT being your average tourist. I often go out and seek things that are not commonly known and find so many beautiful sights that are, in some cases untouch by man.
Although in this day and age they are few and far between.
Please enjoy the hidden beauty of NZ.

The Mission
The mission, should I choose to accept it.
Fly to NZ and enjoy a few days over there celebrating the mother in laws birthday (I think she said she was thirty something)
While over there check out accommodation and work possibilities.
Start planning for the future.
Let us not get too excited.
Workcover should be FINALLY settled upon my return although I have learnt that until it happens it ain’t a done deal.
As you are probably aware I am up early all packed and just spending some quiet time before heading off to the airport.
Becoming a regular little jet setter me aye.
If I had the funds I would actually do more travelling. Not that I am a tourist kind of person. I am more of a get to know the locals at the pub kind of person. I enjoy sitting with the REAL people and learning different things. Soaking in different cultures and tasting local food. Even traditional foods. You know the food that, when they tell you the ingredients you want to throw up kind of food. Haggis is a good example.
Black pudding is another. Why they call it a pudding is beyond my understanding.
I was reading somewhere how back in the olden days (1600-1800s) oysters and claret were a poor mans meal. How life has changed over time. Pigeons, Quail allsorts of poultry were staple things. Oh and throw in some bread and cheese. Yummy aye?
The produce over in NZ is fresh. You can take a blind man shopping and he would be able to shop purely on smell. Me, I love the booze aisle
Arrived safely but am tired. Went to Broncos for dinner and had a great time Today is a chill out day although I am typing this from the mother in-laws PC. You know there are some things that when you return to a country you really feel you have missed? Just little things like motel rooms, benches, Pak ‘n’ Save those sort of minimal things that somehow stir up a lot of emotions.
Well the day is still young and I have to keep on moving.
