Did you know that Belize has 40 homicides for every
100,000 people so it is up there as one of the most violent places in the
world? Isabelle Starr goes on, the south
side of Belize city
are where the gangs congregate.
Burglaries and theft are the major crimes along with drugs
and money laundering; this naturally also brings corruption into play. The
local law enforcement is unable to control some of the organised criminal
organisations.
Kind of sounds like some cities in the states.
We arrive early and are picked up by the local authorities
who take us to police headquarters.
Chief Inspector Brandon Irons greets us and appears to know
quite a lot about me and Isabelle. He updates us with what he has so far. The
office block houses several other companies and the Mandamas Corporation is on
the fifth floor. The building has twelve floors and was built some ten years
earlier.
The local police have been unable to get on to the fifth
floor as all floors have security lock outs and windows are blanketed with some
special material that stops prying eyes from outside seeing in.
Couriers have to leave packages at the ground floor front
desk. With so many people coming and going from the office building it is
difficult to determine who works where.
So Chief Inspector how do we get in?
Meet the computer wiz Noah Lott, we use him to over ride the
security system and gain access to any CCTV footage and computer systems.
Isabelle Starr goes over all the warrants and checks that we
have all we need.
Brandon Irons brings in twelve men to be briefed on what
exactly we will be doing and what we are looking for. Irons explained that
these men can be trusted and will follow orders to the letter. There is a lot
of corruption within the police and other government departments so one has to
be very careful who you trust.
With everything now in place the squad waits.
