Friday is the holy day, it's when, most Muslims pray,
In Christchurch 50 died, New Zealand's safe they say.
The news it flew around the world, tributes flowing through,
The families of the 50 dead, I wonder what they'll do?
As this country mourns, we look at what to shame,
From guns the men their politics, all hold a lot of blame.
The hows and whys confound us, it gets inside one"s head.
No matter what we say or do, there are 50 people dead.
Those that lost their lives that day are in a better place,
It is those of us left behind who cannot fall from grace.
For all the anger and the grief, when all is done and said,
In Christchurch, New Zealand there are 50 people dead.

Well said, Steve. It is a horrible event, and is happening far too often. And now even in places formerly deemed as safe. I firmly believe automatic weapons should be unavailable to the public. I so admire the prime minister who immediately said government will address the gun laws.
Simply and powerfully said. You cover it all, and that refrain brings home the stunning, irrevocable horror.
Indeed... in the end there are those 50 dead... nothing can be said to change that.
It seems America is not the only country where these atrocities occur. So very sad this murder in a house of worship. So very sad.
Yes, 50 people dead. Such senseless tragedy. It happens over and over in all parts of the world; but really I never thought it would happen in peaceful New Zealand. I was in Christchurch some years ago. A beautiful town. I can only imagine the heartbreak there now...and in your entire country. I hope we as a world do not become hardened to these things or immune to feeling. I want to shake my fists and say STOP the violence! Your poem got to the heart of the matter. Thank you.
That is the cold truth. I think white supremacists are our own version of terrorists with cells and manifestos without leaders.
Yes and if the world does not look hard at what has gone so horribly wrong and fix it ... the cycle of mindless violence will sadly not end. RIP.
Hugs babe xxxx
Yes :( I am still in shock
So true.
Really sad. I am very angry with such attacks.
High time we stopped counting the "dead" and treating these statistics as normal.
Where is our world headed to?
