Sunday Story Time Part 2

The story starts here

King of Dreams
by Harry N Down

It was rather strange that we had so much in common. Music, food, ideas and thoughts. Oh, and of course we both loved to drink and socialise.
I always invited him to any family function or if I were going out, I would always give him a call and ask if he wanted to tag along. He usually did. We always had many laughs no matter what we did.
We shared each other’s thoughts worries and dreams.
Kev is a true blue mate!

Old Ship Tunnel Brighton
“My bloody lease runs out and I have to find somewhere else to live.”
“I have been so wrapped up with work I forgot all about it.”
“Why not come live at my place?” I asked handing him his beer.
“Yeah well, that would be good but I……”He stopped talking as if looking for the right way to say what ever he had on his mind but I cut his thought pattern off.

“You’re gay!” I said nonchalantly. Looking at him to see if he would react.
The look on his face wanted to know how I knew and for how long.
In my best Jamaican accent, I simply said, “Don’t be afraid of your sexuality!”
He looked so relieved that I knew. He told me he had wanted to tell me many times but felt the time was not right or things would pop up. His smile returned and he agreed to stay with me. The only thing I did mention was that I am not gay and do not intend to lean that way. We both laughed and decided to have dinner at the pub before heading back to my place and working out the details of when he could move in and what was to go where.

Life was good. Kev worked on a 3 week roster, 2 weeks flat out one week off. He often brought his friends home and I quite enjoyed the company. Fine wine fine food and great conversations were the norm.
I had been injured at work sometime after I first met Kev and ended up getting some compensation. I had brought the house and had nothing more than normal expenses to worry about. I can only do part time work so the money I earn is just a top up.

Kev often worried that he never saw me dating women. I had not really thought about it as I chatted online with a few women and seemed content with keeping my distance from anything or anyone who I felt would cause me heartache. There were five women I chatted with online on a regular basis. Scattered all over the world. One in India, one in Japan and three in the USA.
I was quite content with it all. Sure, there were hints of romance and as a storyteller, I often wrote to these women expressing feelings and desires, hopes and dreams but that's all they were, hopes and dreams.

To be continued ..........here
